Your #openminded mantra is a potent and welcoming statement. If applied constructively, with a belief-sensitivity, the skepticism fades, and we are then relieved of the paradigm of any perceptual errors that are patently destructive. Being of the open-mind, one cannnot ignore the evidence of behaviors, statements, and actions to the contrary. Illusions and delusions can be and has been disproven. This helps us distinguish between those who are ignorant and closed-minded simply by our social exchanges. But apparently, the spectacle’ of our society grows unimpeded.

The spectacle is not a collection of images; rather, it is a social relationship between people that is mediated by images.__ Guy Debord

It is therefore illusory that there is this sense of great disagreement in identifying ignorant and close-minded people. There are people that employ disagreeableness just to be disagreeable, because they are motivated by ignorance — ignorant of factual information that threatens their belief (insensititvity). Frustratingly enough is that riposte mother of all clichés, “everyone is entitled to their own opinion”. Okay but so what. I have no need to rob anybody of of their thought process, especially when it is of no real value as it certainly doesn’t mean that the argument is either valid or logical. However they are needing to save face due to the sunk-cost fallacy. These are the people identified as being ineffectual, or stupid rather, in reference to my piece.

Therefore there really isn’t a problem with identifying them. The problem is getting them to recognize that evolving is not only a possibility, it is a constant. There is no major penalty for this. Mistakes are made everyday, it is how we account for them that matters most and in the most precarious of instances.

By the way there are many people who are endearing to me that follow me on Facebook. And sadly enough some of them are stupid as defined in and contributes to why It Appears That We Are Outnumbered and Surrounded.
