It’s better if you write the present infinitive “mejorar” instead of the present participle “mejorando” here. When you use a verb in Spanish as the subject of a sentence (it may include adverbs and complements), you use the infinitive. So, for example, a sentence like “walking is healthy” would be “caminar es saludable,” but not “caminando es saludable.” In your text, the verb is not the subject, but you’re using the verb “to be” and this allows some license. It’s similar to having a verb a the object of a sentence, like in “I want to” or “I’m planning to,” in which cases you’d also take the infinitive instead of the participle in Spanish.
