Thursday was an interesting one for me, one of the best days I’ve had in quite some time.

I got to see an old friend from high school. She’s married, along with her own life (home, school, work, etc.) so we really don’t get to see each other as often as we’d probably like, but it’s always love. Always has been, going on thirteen years now, because we just get each other.

Anywho, among our topics of conversation were relationships and marriage and we were talking about how so many want the spectacle of what marriage is, not so much the work that comes into a fulfilling marriage. Relationships, just like marriage, are a full-time job. 24/7, no breaks.

She likened these types of people to Wile E. Coyote and his endless chasing of the Roadrunner. Wile E. has chased the Roadrunner for years and not once has he ever caught him. It’s his life’s mission to catch the Roadrunner and he never did. Could you imagine if once, he actually did? What would he do with the Roadrunner? Probably wouldn’t have any idea, because it’s something he’s never accomplished before.

Same with those who’ve never experienced a great spouse. More often than not, you’ve never had it then you finally get it. Then what? More than likely, you’ll self sabotage, screw it up and the search begins anew. Something that’s been sitting on my mind for a few days.
