INTU is excited to announce the 2023 EthCC Intu hackathon. The event, scheduled to take place from July 10 to July 17, 2023, aims to bring together developers from diverse backgrounds to explore innovative solutions using sponsor infrastructure. With a hybrid format combining virtual and in-person elements, the hackathon presents an excellent opportunity for developers to collaborate on groundbreaking projects.

As we’re so excited about the event we thought we’d write a blog on why we love hackathons!

The Role of Hackathons in web3 Innovation

Hackathons have played a crucial role in the growth of web3 technology. They provide a platform for developers to experiment, collaborate, and innovate, often resulting in novel solutions to pressing issues in the crypto space. A brief history of hackathons shows that they have evolved from niche gatherings to global events, attracting developers from various disciplines and industries.

A prime example is 1inch, a leading decentralized exchange aggregator that enables users to find the best trade prices across multiple exchanges.Conceived during the ETHNewYork hackathon in 2019, 1inch has since grown exponentially, boasting billions in total trading volume and expanding its services to multiple blockchain networks. The success of 1inch highlights the transformative power of hackathons in fostering innovation.

Another notable project that emerged from a hackathon is PoolTogether, a no-loss prize savings platform. Born at the ETHDenver hackathon in 2019, PoolTogether allows users to pool their funds and earn interest through decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, with the interest later distributed to one or more lucky winners in a lottery-style system. By combining elements of gaming and DeFi, PoolTogether attracted a growing user base, demonstrating the potential of hackathons to incubate fresh, unconventional ideas that challenge conventional approaches to finance.

InstadApp, a DeFi management platform, also has its roots in a hackathon event. Founded during the ETHIndia hackathon in 2018, InstadApp simplifies the user experience in the complex DeFi ecosystem, providing a unified dashboard for managing multiple DeFi protocols and assets. With billions in total value locked, InstadApp has became an essential tool for many DeFi users, showcasing the power of hackathons as a catalyst for the development of user-centric solutions in the rapidly evolving crypto landscape.

The success stories of 1inch, PoolTogether, and InstadApp offer compelling evidence of the potential of hackathons to drive innovation and nurture groundbreaking ideas in the crypto sphere. By bringing together developers, designers, and entrepreneurs in a collaborative environment, hackathons serve as a launchpad for new projects that can reshape the way we interact with blockchain technology and digital assets.

Hackathon details

The hackathon is sponsored by INTU and some partners who will be announced at a later date. The event will kick off with a virtual opening on July 10, 2023, at 18h CEST via Zoom, giving developers the chance to participate from anywhere in the world. The event will culminate with an in-person closing ceremony on July 17, 2023, at 18h CEST, held at Cafe De La Presse in Paris. This unique combination of virtual and in-person elements aims to foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation while catering to a diverse and global community of developers.

To encourage innovation and excellence INTU has established a series of bounties for participating teams. These bounties include:

  • 1000 USDC for the team with the best infrastructure,
  • 1000 USDC for the most innovative team,
  • 1000 USDC for the team with the best interfaces,
  • With more prizes that will be announced soon.

Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to work on various testnet networks, including Ethereum’s Sepolia, Polygon, Binance, Fantom, and IoTeX. This diverse selection of networks enables developers to experiment with different blockchain platforms and discover the unique capabilities and advantages each has to offer, potentially leading to even more innovative solutions across the web3 ecosystem.

In addition to the main hackathon event, the event offers a series of workshops and activities designed to facilitate learning, collaboration, and hands-on experience. Participants will have access to a dedicated Discord channel for team management and communication.

The goal of these additional opportunities for learning and networking is to make the INTU hackathon an even more enriching experience for developers looking to shape the future of web3 technology.

Leveraging INTU’s Public Beta Launch

INTU’s groundbreaking technology, including its Distributed Externally-Owned Accounts (dEOAs), offers a more human-centric approach to web3 infrastructure. We believe this innovation aligns well with the objectives of hackathons, as it opens up new possibilities for developers to create better user experiences without compromising core web3 values.

Hosting a hackathon presents a unique opportunity for INTU to introduce its public beta to a wider audience of developers. As participants work on projects utilizing INTU’s infrastructure, they can provide invaluable feedback and insights, helping the company refine its offerings. This collaborative approach can accelerate the development of INTU’s technology and broaden its adoption in the web3 space.

The upcoming INTU hackathon offers an excellent opportunity for developers to get involved in shaping the future of web3 technology. Whether you are a seasoned web3 developer or new to the space, participating in the hackathon can help you hone your skills, network with like-minded professionals, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.

INTU’s dEOA infrastructure opens a world of possibilities such as transferable custody wallets, decentralized password manager, collaborative investment tools, or DAO governance, becoming possible during our hackathon.

Don’t miss this chance to make a difference in the web3 ecosystem — join the INTU hackathon and help build a safer, more human-friendly web3.
