The first thing you may have noticed last week when logging into investFeed was a completely updated U.I. Everything from our header to our main site layout has been upgraded and equipped with a more modern feel. The platform has also been undergoing responsiveness-upgrades in order to enhance the user experience when viewing the site from any screen resolution. This was the first of many major updates we’ve rolled out for November, and there are still a few left to go before the month is over.

We have now also rolled out the first iteration of our tipping system. Currently, users are able to send and receive tips of 10 IFT. In the near future, we are also rolling out a counter associated with each post to view isolated pockets of tipping activity. If you’re unsure as to how to participate, there is a guide featured at the bottom of this developer update.

New user profile options have also been added to investFeed, and include the ability to add a career overview, work experience, education, skills, and published articles. This has all been implemented in order for members to better display their attributes to the community.

Along with these updates comes an upgraded back-end infrastructure to handle the increase in traffic we’ve experienced over the last few weeks.

Current open items dealing with U.I enhancements:

  • Article creation bugs
  • Watchlist functionality
  • Tip counts
  • Spam and bot mitigation

Project Pages

Project pages are a brand new feature on investFeed included with our U.I overhaul. We wish to grant project owners the tools to not only display all of their information, but the means to communicate directly with their communities as well. The investFeed project page is currently being tested over at https://www.investfeed.com/investFeed/ and we should be ready to begin onboarding other projects soon!

Project pages will include the following customization options:

  • An area for links to all external social channels and repositories
  • A summary section to include a project overview along with any included media
  • A list to include your team so users may accurately verify active members
  • A count-down timer for a token sale, or market data charts if a project’s token is actively trading
  • An area to upload relative documents such as white papers, one-pagers, or presentations to present to the community
  • An area for press coverage that the project may have received

Along with these customization options is a Live Q&A section which will be available for any project. This is a dedicated stream directly on the profile that is meant for an isolated community chat.

Updates on Open Development Items

Charting and data upgrades will be rolling out shortly. As we’ve mentioned in previous updates, we’re currently in the process of updating the charting used on each live-stream feed, and we’re implementing the ability to share those charts as well. Our market data is also receiving a massive overhaul to include the coins that weren’t previously included in our aggregation. Future functionality will also include optional BTC pairings alongside our current USD pairings.

Tipping on investFeed From Start to Finish

Receiving Tips

Note: Your receiving address doesn’t have to be the same as your sending address.

  • First go to the “Settings” page which is accessible in your user-menu.
  • Once here, click on “Wallet” and enter the address that you’d like to receive tips in. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a MetaMask wallet.
  • Once you’ve saved your address, your posts are now eligible for tipping and it should come up as an additional interaction option.

Sending Tips

Note: You need a MetaMask wallet in order to tip other users. Once you’ve added MetaMask to your browser, either import your regular wallet, or create a new one. Make sure to have both your IFT tokens and a small bit of gas in order to cover transactions. In the near future we should be rolling out our monetization options directly on the platform through smart contracts, and users won’t need to worry about gas.

  • First make sure that you have both your IFT tokens and a bit of ETH loaded in your address.
  • As you browse investFeed with your MetaMask wallet unlocked, the servers should be listening at all times. Find a post you wish to tip and click on the “Tip” button.
  • After clicking the “Tip” button, MetaMask will be called to have you sign off on the transaction. The transaction will be set to a minimal amount of gas — click “SUBMIT” to send it over.
  • Congratulations, you’ve now tipped someone 10 IFT. You should now be provided with a confirmation message on the platform along with the option to view the transaction on Etherscan.
  • The recipient should’ve also been provided with a notification letting them know who sent them a tip.
