Combating and Fighting is an important part of evolution and in many natural, it leads to intelligence in Animals. Martial arts is a fighting technique and is used by the professionals for fighting. It is also helpful for self-defence when you look at the danger around in the society. Training in martial arts is a great for fat loss too. It has many forms which help you burn extra kilo’s in an hour or two and it also saves your life.

I have been instructing Martial arts in Australia at Invictus gym for the Last 10 years and the ad has been in touch with many children and Parents. I always ask them why you want to join Martial arts the answers I got is some want to lose weight, some want to be a Ring fighter or other for self-defence. There have been a lot of different forms of Martial arts Like Thai Boxing, Kids BJJ, MMA, Karate, Muay Thai etc.

There are several reasons why martial arts is getting so much popular because is well suited for fat loss and improves body composition. It is a blend of Functional movements with strength training. It improves cardiovascular conditioning, agility, mobility and flexibility, spatial awareness, and gross motor control. so let’s begin with the few forms that help you in weight loss.

1. Muay Thai

Muay Thai is not a very frugal form of Martial arts as It is a straightforward Martial art that involves Brutal kicks, Knees and elbows. It does not have that fancy technique like joint locks, throws etc. Training in Muay is centred around kicking, foot movement, fight strategy and conditioning. The workout is very tough and will leave you in sweat.

2. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

BJJ is characterised by Devastating throws, joint locks, sweeps, takedown, chokes and controlling positions. Due to its nature, it offers a great advantage against straight punches and kicks in a standing position. for this reason, it is one of the best self-defence art in single attack scenarios. it demands both physical and grappling strength.

3. Wrestling

Wrestling is another martial arts that take place primarily on the ground. It characterises Top position control and take downs. Like BJJ it is not about kicking and punching. This art is all about control of the opponent. Wrestling is great for fitness and fat loss as this involves greater strength and endurance.

4. MMA( Mix Martial arts)

MMA is a combination of many traditional forms of arts. It involves several techniques from different forms. It involves all the steps as I mentioned in all forms. The top MMA athletes are well versed in wrestling, Boxing, Muay that, BJJ and all other forms. There are certain steps involved in that shows its roots from the Taekwondo as well.
