QUESTIONS?
A couple of thoughts run through my head this morning, do bear with me.
A long time ago I wasn’t a Christian, I had zero interest in Christianity. I read a lot of physics then, trying to understand the universe and how it all came about, I came to the conclusion that there had to be something behind the universe, it was just too precise. Christians however, were not able to reconcile their faith, and the precise results of science, believing for example that the earth is six thousand years old!
The Christian faith, seemed like a blind leap in the dark. A very foolish one with eternal consequences.
Being a Christian myself, I believe that the Christian faith, is not, and should not be a blind leap in the dark. It should be a sensible leap into the only true offer of life.
I do believe that God, has mercifully revealed enough for us to have a reasonable basis for our faith. It's just a matter of searching out those things.
All belief systems have consequences, and if there has been time and will always be time, then they have eternal consequences. And because truth is absolute, only one belief system can be right, hence the need to be absolutely sure you're right. Eternity is eternity, and a little presuming, will not do when it comes to issues like eternity.
If I died today, and on the other side I find out, that the Buddhists we’re right, and I was wrong, it’s forever. If the Hindus are right, then I am doomed forever as well.
So, how certain am I that I'm right? Does the Bible make sense? How feasible is a faith based on a resurrected carpenter?
My point? Be certain, know for sure why history, science, philosophy all have to end up pointing back to Jesus, eternity is too long for us to have uncertainties about it. Selah.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; -1Peter 3:15
