The event aimed to equip participants with knowledge and experience in internet technology. Thirty IT practitioners representing various companies in Semarang and surrounding areas attended the workshop.

Irianita Rahardianti, Vice President (VP) of HSP’s Regional 2 (Central Java-DIY), explained that the workshop aimed to provide IT practitioners with expert-led training on internet technology, enabling them to protect their companies’ critical data.

“The trend of cyber attacks, such as phishing, is increasing, especially in the banking sector, even affecting the Ministry of Communication and Informatics. Cybersecurity is a hot topic, and this workshop allows IT teams to gain experience and insights in this field, serving as additional protection if their companies need help securing important data,” she stated during the workshop on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

The training involved both theoretical learning and practical exercises on how to anticipate and address various disruptions or attacks from hackers.

“Common issues include viruses entering through WhatsApp or office emails. Companies can proactively mitigate these risks to ensure safe operations, regardless of scale, without incurring high costs,” she added.

Workshop participants included IT practitioners from various sectors, including government, universities, hospitals, factories, manufacturing, and hospitality.

According to Anita, HSP Net has approximately 80 corporate clients in the Central Java-DIY region within its first year of operation. The company also serves around 10,000 retail or household customers.

“Initially, HSP focused on the retail or household segment, then expanded to the middle-upper segment, targeting corporate clients since June 2023,” she said.

“We now have a network connecting Java, Bali, and international locations. Our customers span 200 cities, with a 27,000-kilometer fiber optic network,” she added.

In addition to internet services, HSP Net offers internet technology devices and software, such as CCTV, servers, and cloud solutions.

“We also have 9 POP Data Centers in Semarang,” she revealed.

Rofiq Fauzi, an IT practitioner and lecturer at Polines who served as a speaker, explained that the workshop covered IT and internet network security. In the internet realm, data is equivalent to money and represents a valuable asset for companies.

“We hope participants will understand and be aware of how data can be lost through deception or cybercrime tactics within minutes, potentially damaging a reputation built over years. If this happens to a bank, losing customer data would erode trust. We also aim to educate the public about the importance of safe internet practices,” he concluded.
