The 2018 Spring Blockchain Technology Forum was held in the People’s Daily New Media Building and was the first event hosted by the People’s Capital Blockchain Channel — a subsidiary of People’s Daily that focuses on venture investment and blockchain tech. According to People’s Daily, with the continuous growth of innovation-driven development strategy, blockchain technology is increasingly being taken seriously by government departments. The forum was held in order to promote technological development and empower industry growth. People’s Daily announced that it will be “enabling blockchain technology” going forwards in order to promote the healthy and orderly development of the entire industry.

IOST CEO Jimmy Zhong was invited to speak at the event and discussed the technological barriers facing widespread blockchain adoption as well as the philosophical compromises that many projects are having to make in order to create functioning technology. He warned that these tradeoffs should not be taken lightly as the spirit of decentralization is a key aspect of the utility cryptocurrencies offer.

Jimmy spoke for twenty minutes about the technology behind IOST and the longterm plans the Internet of Services Foundation has to fundamentally alter and digitize commerce. Jimmy’s presentation was applauded by scholars and professors from Behang University and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Afterwards he was surrounded by journalists and attendees who wanted to discuss more about IOST.

The “People’s Daily” is a newspaper published by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is listed with the Xinhua News Agency and the China Central Television Station as one of the three official media organizations of the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Republic of China. To some extent, their content represent’s China’s official position.
