[IOTE Expo 2024 Shenzhen]Global AI and IoT Industry Leaders Come Together for the Launch of the “World AIoT Innovation Alliance” (WAIA)
Global digital transformation has been widely seen as an irreversible trend. In recent years AIoT (AI + IoT) has become an essential tool for digital transformation across various industries. With the continuous integration of the global economy, the AIoT markets are also showing signs of mutual integration. Effectively promoting this integration has become a key issue for industry development worldwide.
On August 28, during the IOTE 2024 22nd International Internet of Things Exhibition & AGIC General Artificial Intelligence Conference and Industry Expo, the World AIoT Innovation Alliance (WAIA) held its initiation ceremony. Representatives from AIoT associations across 15 global regions and over 60 global guests from 12 countries and regions attended, including more than 30 international business guests from the United States, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and other countries.
One of the primary initiators, Mr. William Yang, Executive Chairman of the Shenzhen IoT Industry Association and Founder of the IOTE International IoT Expo, stated, “The WAIA aims to build an open, cooperative, and win-win platform to promote global AIoT technology research and innovation, industry standard setting, and market exchange and expansion, therefore boosting international cooperation. It seeks to become a public and non-profit organization that truly connects AIoT institutions and key enterprises from around the world, with a special focus on supporting the global development of smart IoT enterprises.”
The event was hosted by Mr. Wilson Chong, Chairman of the IOTHK Association. Speakers included William Yang, Executive Chairman of the Shenzhen IoT Industry Association, Tonny Yang, President of the Thailand International IoT Association, Dr. Anna Lau, president of the Asia Automatic Identification Association (Aim Aisa Incorporation), John Tay, CSO of the Malaysia IoT Association, Spencer Liang, Chairman of the Taiwan IoT Association, Michael Zhu, President of the Ningbo IoT Intelligent Technology Application Association, Sung Tien Lo, Special Representative of the Brazil IoT Association (ABINC, Associacao Brasileira De Internet Das Coisas), Micheal A. Murley from VoltsUp Technologies Inc. and the Canadian AI organization, and Xianfeng Ding, Director of the International Sensors Association. Each of them shared the unique features and cooperation needs of the AIoT industry in their respective countries and regions, and expressed their desire to jointly initiate the WAIA Alliance.
Following this, Ms. Helen Ha, Marketing Director of the renowned and representative AIoT enterprise UROVO, spoke about UROVO’s global development experience and new line of system products, offering sincere wishes for the establishment of the WAIA Alliance and hoping that it will gather global AIoT industry leaders to promote technological innovation, development, resource sharing, and further mutual benefits. She also expressed hope that UROVO’s intelligent and lightweight mobile computers, along with RFID and other solutions, can work together with partners in the AIoT ecosystem to provide more digital and intelligent solutions for customers across various industries, ultimately enhancing the efficiency of frontline mobile workers.
Other founding representatives present included Jie Lei, Secretary-General of the Xiamen IoT Association, Jun Zhao, President of the IoT Industry Association, Guangwen Li, Secretary-General of the Qingdao IoT Industry Association, Ming Xu, Secretary of the Hangzhou IoT Industry Association, Jerry Zuo, Secretary-General of the ePaper Industry Alliance (EPIA), and Steffi Sun, Founder of the Quadrant Lab Think Tank and Jadeit Strategy Consulting.
After the launch ceremony, over 60 global industry guests enjoyed a networking reception. The dinner was co-hosted by Mr. Johnny Dou, Founder and Chairman of Shenzhen Easylink IoT Co., Ltd., and Ms. Steffi Sun, Founder of Quadrant Lab & Jadeit Strategy Consulting. Attendees exchanged insights on regional industry development, technological trends, and global cooperation visions of the WAIA.
