Starting is Scary

I have one major problem though. And Ill just use your analogy of Winston Churchill to illustrate it. If I start painting the canvas by making a mistake an trying to fix it, i might find myself in a position where this red line looks decent but doesnt fit into the whole picture im trying to achieve. What Im trying to say is that if the fundamental idea is wrong i might reach a point where my project starts falling apart. Im aware that its better to just do something than nothing, but im worried that if i make a mistake in the begining i might not be able to undo it later. Does that make sense?
