My first Blog-post ever.
For the longest time now, I wanted to start a blog — more intensely these last five years — but I never had the courage and I simply didn’t know what to write about.
A blog is something most common folk has tried, at least for a while, until they noticed that they couldn’t keep up or that readers are just not interested. I didn’t want that, so that’s why I never really bothered. I also didn’t want an ordinary blogging-medium, I didn’t want Wordpress, Blogger or Tumblr for example.
After discovering Medium, I knew that I had found the perfect medium on which I will be posting my first blog — it’s elegant, minimal and lots of designers, developers and entrepreneurs use it. However, for the following months I was faced with another dilemma; questions lingering in my head that dismissed me from the whole idea again. Questions like; will my posts suck, will people like them, will I like them, will they be relevant, can I keep up with it? ..Just about any question you can think of that can deter you from doing something.
Then one day I realized that no matter the consequence, I will put my plan into traction, because it will help me take another step towards my goals. All of these influential people on Medium had to start of somewhere, at some point they were all at this very point I’m at — some more anxious than the other, but they all did it eventually.
I too am taking that step..
After being overwhelmed for years, I too am taking that Leap of Faith (yes, I am a huge Assassins Creed-fan), this will be good for me for many reasons — I will no longer be a prisoner to my own mind.
This blog is meant to help me maintain and challenge my writing capabilities. Unlike most people, I won’t set a blogging-goal; this is supposed to be and remain something I do for fun. I will stop overthinking and overwhelming myself, and just be myself, write when I can without worry.
Making this blog also gives me the opportunity to embrace and combine my passions, overcome my fear of people, work on my reputation and networking-skills, which are essential when it comes to the industry I’m pursuing.
I also think it’s worth noting that I don’t know yet which direction this blog will take — only time will tell — but I most certainly will not be blogging about religion, fashion, nutrition, neither motivational-quote-type shit.
