SMALL BUT MIGHTY
A small space w/ a huge heart
Today we open the doors to our eighth location in as many years, and our first uptown. Located on Yonge St. (just north of Sheppard on the east side) and a part of the redeveloping Yonge + Sheppard Centre, we have a lot to say about our new home.
First off — there’s the size. Small but mighty is how we like to describe it :-)
At 980 SF, it’s the smallest street-level location we’ve ever built. Utilizing every square inch (yes, there’s a fully functioning kitchen behind that wall of plants — we’re cooking everything on-site from scratch, daily), we designed a space that packs a lot of punch.
Our goal is to design not only more beautiful, but more thoughtful and functional spaces as we grow, and we’ve incorporated all that we’ve learned along the way here. While this location doesn’t offer any seating (take-out only friends!), our mission is to fuel dreams through food, and that doesn’t always mean building out large, expansive restaurants. It means getting healthy and sustainable eats into the hands of our guests exactly the way they want it. And for a neighbourhood as busy as this one, that means ordering ahead.
While there’s space to queue up in line and hang out, this location is absolutely, positively, 100% best enjoyed by ordering ahead w/ the iQ app. We’re excited to be experimenting and optimizing for self pick-up at this location — a sign of things to come across all iQ’s in the not-too-distant future :-)
OUR NEW COMMUNITY
We’ve been blessed to serve millions of guests (wow, crazy to say that out loud…) over the years downtown. But never, until now, have we had the chance to connect w/ an entirely new, different and equally as food-curious community as the one at Yonge and Sheppard.
Embracing neighbourhoods in their early stages of development (we launched our location at 18 York St. before the likes of Apple and Amazon arrived; and launched at Yorkdale last September in a newly built west wing of the shopping centre that’s still very much in development) has been our M/O since day one. That commitment continues today as there aren’t many neighbourhoods that we’re more bullish about over time than this one. Really.
The best Japanese cheesecake in the city is just up the street (the team at Cheese Garden really does special things), and if you’re looking for incredible Persian home cooking, hit up Gol Take Out two minutes away. There are a dozen more notable names, including a few brands that are soon to pop up as neighbours, and we couldn’t be more excited to join that growing community.
So come say hi if you’re headed uptown. And if you live or work in the neighbourhood, we can’t wait to become fast friends :-)
