Marquees — No Longer Your Common Party Tent

Celebrating an important event in what was technically a huge tent used to seem like a shabby choice, but marquees have gone above and beyond in past decades to offer the most versatile party venue out there. These days, they’re really more like portable buildings than mere tents.

We all know that marquees can be fixed up to be really lovely and elegant using flowers, lanterns, and other types of fancy decorative elements, but there’s aesthetics and there’s comfort. How do you ensure that your marquee is not wanting in the way of convenience, that it offers everything that a traditional venue does?

Marquee hire companies are certainly making it possible for themselves to offer their services no matter the season or the requirements of the clients. I’m the kind of person who’s so finicky it’s annoying, but I like my creature comforts. While I like the idea of being outdoors and using the beauty of nature to serve as background for a special occasion, I don’t like the discomfort of bugs, mud, humidity, etc., so if I were to use a marquee for an event, I’d definitely require the following features:

  • Ample elegant lighting — I want chandeliers, of course. I like the idea of a place glowing with candles, but I know that would turn the entire event into a fire trap, so I’ll settle for electric ones. I want sconces, candelabras, lanterns, fairy lights, starlight linings… all strategically placed so it all doesn’t seem like overkill, but suffice it to say that I want a marquee that can handle all of it.
  • Elegant flooring — Even if it’s makeshift, I want it to look like the hardwood floors of a ballroom. If carpet is the better choice for the occasion, they should be quality ones as well. Definitely, I don’t want heels sinking in mud, people tripping over uneven ground, ants and other bugs mingling with the guests, etc.
  • Air conditioning/heating — I want the temperature to be a comfortable one, whether it’s as hot as blazes or freezing cold outside.
  • Toilets — I want enough toilets to sufficiently service the guests. Even if they’re just porta potties, they need to blend seamlessly into the scene, bear all the conveniences, and look tasteful as well.

For a demanding client such as myself, it’s best to do business with an event hire company with a comprehensive list of services as well as an extensive list of offerings such as No Fuss Event Hire. It just saves everybody the trouble when the company is able to accommodate all kinds of quirks and demands.
