I love this advice. When I graduated from law school I knew I never wanted to practise, but well-meaning family & friends told me I should get my practising certificate and get called to the Bar, “just in case”. I spent one very miserable year trying to follow that advice. In the end I went after what I really wanted — a career in journalism — and slammed the door of law behind me. I’ve since moved on and done other things, but I’ve never regretted moving away from law, and time has only cemented my certainty that I’m never going back. Sometimes we need to boldly go after what we want with no Plan B at the back of our minds… especially if it’s a Plan B we know is not for us! Go all in and don’t look back.
