You are absolutely right, as soon as proportion of women in the current STEM professions, such as programming, will reach some critical number, there will be a switch that suddenly makes this field to pay less. And the explanations will be the usual ones — all the pioneering work already done, now only routine tasks are left.

However, to sit and wait until the world moves on beyond tech and starts to appreciate empathy etc. is not a solution either. Even assuming the move beyond tech happens, we will find that actually men are so much more suitable to the highest responsibility positions in the new economics. It’s not a fantasy, btw, we can go back to the romantic literature of 18th century to find that men are much more sensitive, articulate, and capable of deep emotions.
