IRISnet (a.k.a IRIS Hub) is designed to be the foundation for the next-generation distributed applications. Built with Cosmos-SDK, IRIS Hub enables cross-chain interoperability through a unified service model, while providing a variety of modules to support DeFi applications. You can find more details about IRISnet here.

TL;DR

  • Irishub is improved with many functions. New versions were released to Rainbow wallet and IRISplorer.
  • The 4th token burn was completed, and new burning plan is going to be shared with community soon.
  • The research director of IRISnet, Jeffrey Hu, was invited to attend a live AMA with Biki to share IRISnet developments.
  • COIRFAN released new functions including: node ranking also instant messaging.
  • Blockchains in Cosmos ecosystem such as IRISnet and Kava are successfully connected with each other under IBC protocol.
  • e-Money will be supported by Rainbow Wallet.

Technical Updates

Irishub Software

  • Improved application state export
  • Fixed the bug that the empty slice caused the signature verification to fail
  • Optimized error returned when querying upgrade information
  • Added system service definition `random`
  • [asset] Added params check in client
  • [service] Allowed updating `threshold` when updating context from other modules
  • [service] Fixed the logic to restart service context
  • The `coinswap` module was rebuilt based on `cosmos-sdk`. Anyone can easily use it in their own projects. https://github.com/irismod/coinswap

Community updates

The 4th token burn was completed, and new burning plan is going to be shared with community soon

On March 31st, 2020, the IRIS Foundation completed the 4th IRIS token burn under a one-year token burning plan with 14,230,476 IRIS burned. Until now, 62,754,558 IRIS tokens have been burned. Every burn maintains an original balance of 2 billion IRIS to keep the actual inflation rate as 0.

We noticed many discussions on IRISnet forum are around how token should be burned recently. The IRIS Foundation would like to work with our community to improve the current burning plan and focus on improving all validators and delegators with an opportunity to get greater benefits.

COIRFAN provides the function of node ranking for Cosmos and IRISnet, and launches an instant message module

COIRFAN is a platform dedicated to sharing the news of Cosmos and IRISnet established by community enthusiasts. It has recently updated two functions:

1. Provide node ranking of Cosmos and IRISnet to users. This data is calculated and sorted by four data items: the number of delegated tokens, self-bonded rate, uptime, and commission rate, which are updated once a day at 12:00 PM (UTC+8). At the same time, the data center of COIRFAN now supports Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and other languages.

2. Add an instant message area: share overseas community information to users instantly, to solve the problem that Chinese users and investors do not have access to the latest news from Cosmos in time because of network constraint.

IRISnet AMA with Biki:A new generation of public chain infrastructure for distributed business applications

The research director of IRISnet, Jeffrey Hu, was invited to attend a live AMA with Biki to share the story of IRISnet:

Ecosystem

Rainbow announced the plan to support e-Money

Recently, e-Money joined the IRISnet ecosystem. The e-Money is focusing on globalizing financial services via blockchain to reduce transaction fees. Rainbow wallet developed by IRISnet core Dev team announced the plan to support e-Money for bringing more exciting features to the ecosystem.

IRISnet is getting ready for GoZ and successfully connected with other ecosystem partners through IBC.

IRISnet is getting ready for Game of Zone, and successfully connected with other Cosmos ecosystem validators/projects such Dokia, P2P.org and Kava in IBC testnet. This displays the interoperability of interchain in blockchain to the public.

IRISnet is mentioned in reports published by Our Network and Cypher Core

The crypto industry media, Our Network, released its fifteenth weekly report on April 3rd, which included the progress of Cosmos written by Chjango Unchained in recent months. In the section on the progress of IBC, it is mentioned that there are currently 8 different testnet based on Cosmos SDK (such as IRISnet, Dokia, Ping IBC, etc.), and IBC connections have been established in those testnets and can interoperate IBC related information with each other.
