IRISnet (a.k.a IRIS Hub) is designed to be the foundation for the next-generation distributed applications. Built with Cosmos-SDK, IRIS Hub enables cross-chain interoperability through a unified service model, while providing a variety of modules to support DeFi applications. You can find more details about IRISnet here.

TL;DR

  • IRIS Foundation Rolled Out a Community-Centric Delegation Campaign & the Second One-Year Token Burn Plan: All delegators will receive double reward earnings monthly; validators who meet certain criteria will receive a direct deposit; the burn plan maintains zero percent inflation rate
  • A new version of irishub was released to support the security patch announced by Cosmos core dev team; Rainbow wallet is going to develop the new version to support GoZ; Many functions were improved and added to IRISplorer
  • IRISnet core dev team works on multiple work streams to support GoZ
  • The research director of IRISnet, Jeffrey Hu, was invited to attend an online AMA of 8btc to discuss the future of DeFi
  • Thanks to Cypher Core and Kencrypto Whisperer for the report. Thanks to Víctor for the translation of IRISnet Biweekly Updates.

Technical Updates

Community updates

IRIS Foundation Rolled Out a Community-Centric Delegation Campaign & the Second One-Year Token Burn Plan!

On April 20th of 2020, the IRIS foundation rolled out a community-centric delegation campaign and the second one-year token burn plan. Besides maintaining a zero percent inflation rate, the IRIS Foundation weighed in on several propositions discussed within the community and has come up with a community-centric delegation campaign catered to expanding the utilization of the funds while focusing on aligning the incentives of network participants with their business objectives. According to this campaign: delegators can receive double earning rewards monthly; also direct deposits will be awarded to eligible small validators according to certain criteria.

To ensure the sustainable development of IRISnet which based on BPoS with Tendermint consensus, the IRIS foundation prioritizes to motivate both delegators and validators to actively participate in improving the voluntary bonded ratio to maintain network security.

The research director of IRISnet, Jeffrey Hu, was invited to attend an online AMA of 8btc to discuss the future of DeFi

On April 13th of 2020, the research director of IRISnet, Jeffrey Hu, was invited to attend an online AMA for 8btc with the co-founder of ForTude David Lei, the project manager fo MakerDao in China Chao Pan, the director of ChainLink in China ‘tiaozige’, and well-known researcher of BTM Qiushan Liu to discuss the accidents of DeFi and the future development of DeFi.

Ecosystem

Team IRISnet is in Game of Zone

Team IRISnet joined a discussion in the Cosmos GoZ online AMA last week! We are also implementing a scheme for the Relayer incentive in GoZ, which motivates Relayer to support the liveness of the IBC connections. To add a transaction fee in the design of Packet, Relayer would get the fee from the other chain after the transfer of the Packet completed. In this way, team IRIS not only addresses the problem of the inaction of Relyer but also improves the appropriate Relayer incentive for many parties in the same channel.

See responses from IBC core dev team:

https://github.com/cosmos/ics/issues/411

We are also preparing:

  • Updating Rainbow wallet to IBC beta version to support cross-chain transfer and Coinswap
  • Presenting a visualization map for GoZ in IRISploer, please stay tuned!

IRISnet core dev team accomplished node upgrade for ecosystem

At 10 pm on April 9th, 2020, the Cosmos core dev team released a security patch including the upgrades of Tendermint, Cosmos SDK and Gaia.

The team behind IRISnet revised the code of irishub immediately and it was successfully upgraded irishub to v0.16.2 on the 10th of April. Team IRISnet also completed the upgrade of IRISnet-Bianjie validator node; provided technical support for Chinese Cosmos validators; accomplished the upgrade of validator node for e-Money, IOV, etc.

IRISnet became the First Batch of Ecosystem Partners of OKChain

OKChain recently shared a list of the first batch of ecosystem partners after open source, including IRISnet, Cosmos, Bytom, CertiK, and Conflux, with a total of 30 leading global well-known blockchain projects. IRISnet, as a public chain supporting cross-chain services for various complicated distributed applications such as DeFi, can transfer value and services between heterogeneous blockchains together with OKChain to enrich both ecosystem development in the future.
