Weight loss is a huge deal these days. Everybody is talking about it. Studies have proven that many diseases can be avoided, even in old age, if you take care of your body. If you are unlucky and do have some sort of illness, a clean lifestyle would reduce your need of medication and thus increase life expectancy.

That’s the reason why everybody talks about weight loss. Despite a general acceptance that obesity is causing many health issues and mental disorders, more and more people seem to be overweight.

Despite endless, healthy choices on the market, available everywhere, you find yourself making the most unhealthy choices. Your lack of confidence in making smarter choices seems to get worse by day. And yet it looks like the world is more ready than ever to lose weight and be fit and healthy. From telly shows to documentaries, from structured workouts to free trials, society seems to acknowledge the importance of being fit and looking great.

Pop stars, actresses, telly moderators, they all emphasize how healthy they live and the sacrifices they make to look amazing. Not only they are on the craziest, most restrictive diets, but most of them hire the most well known personal trainers to sculpture their bodies. And when that is not enough, there is always artificial beauty, from botox to liposuction and other crazy pain inflicting procedures.

The world is ready to create the perfect body. Naturally or with a little bit of help, your dream body can be achieved. And with that being the case, why are you still overweight? What’s stopping you from losing the weight and look at your best?

Because the extra weight is most of the time the result of a hectic life. A life which controls you. Being overweight in this time and age, when access to healthy eating and workouts is free and everywhere, it means the issue is deeper.

It took me 100 diets to discover the secret of a balanced life.

It took me 100 diets to love myself.

It took me 100 diets to finally treat my body right.

My whole life I had weight issues. As a child I was overweight, as a teenager fat, and as a young woman in my early 20s, obese. My extra weight has always been my number one enemy. Everything that would go wrong in my life, I was convinced it was because of my body. I couldn’t have loving, caring friends because I wasn’t worth of love. I couldn’t have a peaceful relationship because of my insecurity issues, which would make me super jealous. And finally my close and extended family would bully me on a daily basis.

There was a lot of pain to take in and all because of my extra weight. I hated my body vehemently and eventually, I did get to the point where I was fully depressed and on the edge of giving up.

As I grew up, the hate towards myself and my body intensified. The feeling of worthless intensified. Ironically, I never thought of actually getting angry at my environment. I was overweight, I was different, I deserved the daily psychological abuses.

As long as you hate yourself and your body, you will not be able to find a sustainable weight loss solution. Why? Because you act out of negative emotions: sadness, frustration, self- hate, lack of patience, impulsive reactions and so forth. This kind of mindset will work against you, and instead of praising your daily efforts to be better, you will only be focused on the negative. For example, you will complain you are not losing weight fast enough, you will complain your gym is full of people you dislike, you will be frustrated with the program you are following… you get my point. And before you know it you have given up yet again.

Before starting your transformation journey, sit down and write stuff down. How you feel right now and what is causing all these feelings. What you want to achieve and WHY is it so important to succeed. Who is part of your environment and the role they play. How is you everybody in your environment influencing your lifestyle. Get clarity on your current life and choices, and then proceed to action.

There are million of ways to get this done, but unless you act our of self- love and appreciation, you will keep failing. Get your head right and you will succeed in no time.
