Automating OSINT

Keeping on top of open source information can be a time consuming and laborious process. I have identified a number of tools/sites that can allow you to set up an automatic collect function. These tools will identify if any change has happened to a particular website or a particular search result has come up. This process will require an email address and i suggest you set up a new email address to act as your point of contact.

Website Changes

The following sites will allow you to monitor changes in a webpage and send you an email when a change has occurred. This in most cases will prevent you returning to the webpage time and time again to identify any changes. Most will also provide a screenshot of the change in the email.

  1. Follow That Page

2. Change Detection

3. Visual Ping

4. Versionista

To utilise these tools you will need the exact URL of the page you want to detect any changes for and it must be accessible through the surface web.

Content Alerts

The next tools will allow you to set up an alert for specific sets of data, terms, sites or search indexes.

5. Google alerts

6. Talkwalker Alerts

The alert tools can be used for a number of tasks and are designed around brand monitoring. They can be used in a variety of different ways:

Identification of online reporting of individuals under close protection

site: use this command to target specific alerts to new data on websites or domains
