Nadal defeated world number 1, Novak Djokovic, in straight sets with an impeccable display of perfect Tennis.

The 34-year old, now has 20 Grand slams to his name, equalling with his rival and great friend Roger Federer.

Only 1,000 lucky people watched the final in the stadium, due to the pandemic restrictions.

Why Rafael Nadal is King of Clay?

In 2005, when a 19-year old Nadal won his 1st Roland Garros and now in 2020, he has won it a record, 13 times. Absolutely, the incredible story of a great player. Unreal stats, Nadal has won 100 matches in Paris and losing only 2 in the past 16 years.

World number 2, is the only player in the tennis world to win 13 times a single major tournament.

Rafael Nadal never lost in the finals and semifinals of Roland Garros in his tennis career.

Victory against Novak Djokovic:

The two great rivals met for the 56th time, Djokovic was leading in head-to-head matches with 29–26. However, Novak only won one time against Nadal in 2015, Roland Garros.

Nadal started the match confidently by breaking the serve. He won the first set 6–0 in just 48 minutes. Novak was in shock, Rafa then took the second 6–3 with outstanding tactics of handling the drop shots. However, Novak comeback in third as they both were level on 5–5 before Nadal took the breakpoint and won 7–5.

Classy Gesture from Roger Federer:

Roger Federer praised Rafa on equalling his record with a heartwarming message to the King of Clay.

Final Thoughts:

Winning 13 titles shows, how much Rafa loves the City of Paris and he is always ready to come back year after year. And, who knows next year he will lift the trophy for 14th time.
