As a freelance writer and content creator, I have been on a journey to reach the 100 follower mark on Medium. Reaching this milestone would allow me to join the Medium Partner Program and start earning money for my articles. However, as a resident of a country where Stripe accounts are not available, I faced a major barrier in creating a US bank account to open a Stripe account. That’s when I discovered Wise, a game-changing multi-currency account that has helped thousands of freelancers and entrepreneurs like me outside of the US.

So, what is Wise?

Formerly known as TransferWise, Wise is an online financial service that allows users to hold and transfer money across multiple currencies at a fair exchange rate. When you create a Wise account, you can create a specific account for each currency you need. For example, I created a USD US account to receive and send money to the US.

The best part?

I received all the information I needed as if I had a US bank account, which I can use whenever I need to log in to a bank account in the US with my name.

But Wise does more than just provide a “US-like” bank account…

(remember its not an actual bank account, its more like Paypal…on steroids)

It opens doors to opportunities that were previously closed to me. For instance, Etsy does not allow sellers from my country to join (yet), and Amazon doesn’t allow affiliate marketers from my country to receive payments directly to our banks. With Wise, I can use my newly created US account to sell on Etsy and receive payments from Amazon, relieving a lot of stress and worry.

Wise has also come in handy when transferring money from PayPal to my country. PayPal only allows the option to send ACH to US bank accounts or to other Paypal accounts, making it difficult for me to receive payments.

However, with Wise, I can simply provide the necessary bank account details and voila — problem solved!

I can’t express enough how much Wise has transformed and will keep on helping with my financial journey. Not only has it helped me create a US-like bank account, but it has also opened up numerous opportunities for me as a freelancer and content creator. And I’m not alone — thousands of freelancers and entrepreneurs outside of the US are benefiting from Wise’s incredible services.

So, if you’re a freelancer or entrepreneur outside of the US facing financial hurdles in getting paid, Wise could be the solution you’ve been looking for. With a Wise multi-currency account, you can receive and send money across borders, create specific accounts for each currency, and even access opportunities that were once out of reach.

Wise is a game-changer in the financial industry, and I’m grateful for the impact it has had on my life and the lives of so many others.
