Growth Mindset : To Infinity and Beyond

Ever had one of those days you wake up wondering… What now? “Just graduated from college, off to start the rest of my life, hmm… What now?”
Being an oh so recent graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science, I fell into this vortex: maybe you too have, huh? Here’s my little solution for this and the consecutive times life shall pose this question to you.
First, lets start with a little story, I trust you love yourself some story time, right?
Graduating from college a little over a year ago was the culmination of all the psychological and emotional turmoil I had been under a little over the entire duration of my final semester.
For starters there was the realization that all the work, time and effort — or lack thereof — put into the for year of the study would now be reduced to a single degree classification that would then be tattooed across my entire academic life history FOREVER.
Frustrated, I jumped at the first opportunity that came way. I craved structure. As far as I could remember my life was quite structured, so to speak. There were the kindergarten years, then the primary school years, a tiny break then off to high school and then finally, the mother ship: College. Despite the flexibility of the scholarly life of college, it was still pretty structured: classes then evaluations and thus ends a semester and another, and another.
Now here I am. Graduated. Newly employed. What now? I’d tell you what I did but that comfort meant time lost, very valuable time. So lets just get into the solution; Growth Mindset.

If you are not happy with where you are, keep moving ~ Anonymous
Keep moving! Comfort means stagnation, which I have found leads to frustration and eventually depression. Don’t just wait and/or watch others progress. NO! Challenge yourself. If you have archived one dream — completing college for instance — dream a bigger dream. Just never stop growing.
Thanks to Andela, this philosophy has since re-ignited my will to live. It has taught me that nothing is impossible, with the right attitude, relentless dedication, and a desire to keep learning: That which you don’t know is not a fault but an opportunity for growth. If you train yourself and practice the Growth Mindset and apply it to all avenues of your life and reap the numerous benefits it promises and the sure destination that it Greatness.
