Mexican Restaurant Style Rice in 10 Minutes or Less

A life hack to spice up taco night with a delicious and easy side dish.

Ingredients

1 cup Instant White Rice

1 Chicken Bouillon Cube

2 Tbsp. Spaghetti Sauce *see notes

2 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil

1/2 Tbsp. Chili Powder

1/2 tsp. Onion Powder

1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder

A dash of black pepper

3/4 cup Water

Steps

  1. Heat water, spaghetti sauce, and oil in a pot. Add the spices and bouillon cube and mix.
  2. When the water comes to a boil, add the instant rice and stir. Remove from heat, and cover with a lid. Let the rice cook in the hot water for five minutes, or follow package instructions.
  3. To serve the rice in the shape seen in the photo, fill a small cup with rice, put a plate on top of it, and flip it over carefully. Lift the cup off slowly, and it should keep the shape of the cup. Enjoy!

*Notes

If you don’t have spaghetti sauce, other tomato-based products like tomato juice or tomato paste can be substituted. I wouldn’t even judge you if you used ketchup.
