How They Work:

The conscious mind is the only one that is aware of its activity. It is the one that can be aware of our thoughts, feelings, memories, and actions.

The subconscious mind on the other hand, is not active most of the time except for when it’s triggered by certain cues.

The subconscious mind has many functions. It is most popularly believed to be responsible for doing things like driving habits or sleeping patterns.

It is also believed that our subconscious can also act as a filter or buffer with our conscious mind so we don’t process too much information at once.

The term “subconscious” refers to psychological processes — that occur outside of conscious awareness and control.

A person’s thoughts and behaviors may be

influenced by unconscious cognitive processes.

A person’s behavior without conscious awareness of it is called “automatic behavior”.
