Soundcloud lecture notes 6 Question types — Jour 220

The lecture was an explanation of how to approach an interview and the 6 question types that an interview would consist of, the 6 types are as follows.

  1. Close ended questions are questions that end with a “Yes” or “no” type of answer. A short response usually follows a close ended question
  2. Open ended questions invoke a longer response, and are not “Yes” or “no” question.
  3. Hypothetical question, in this question scenario, the interviewer puts together a hypothetical situation and the person being interviewed answers with what they would do in the hypothetical situation.
  4. Agree or Disagree type of question, in this scenario the interviewer asks the person if they agree or disagree with either a statement or quote.
  5. Probing question, This is the follow up to something that has already been said. A question that arises in the spur of the moment.
  6. Personal question, this is a question that is difficult to ask usually, because it is usually very personal. The interviewer must approach this carefully.
