The chain reaction of Ali Siddiq’s jokes inspired by his life experiences is far from over.

The Huston-born comedian was on Big Boy’s neighbourhood, a radio show turned YouTube podcast in Los Angeles, and announced he is in the process of writing two more specials under the Domino Effect title. Ali Siddiq says he had no intention of releasing Domino Effect 2 Loss but his fans demanded the second YouTube special.

“The reason I am doing these specials now is because the people are demanding them. People watched one and said ‘Man I have to know what else happened’ Then they watch two, I get locked up and they say ‘Hey man I need to know what happened after this’. That is the dopeness of this lane, I am in a unique space, I am not doing jokes, I am only telling stories about my life,” said Ali Siddiq.

Although the first special was supposed to be the only one that bares the Domino Effect title, Ali Siddiq revealed he will delve more into what happened to him after his arrest and sentenced to fifteen years at the age of 19 for being in possession of five kilos of cocaine, $92 000 in cash and a gun. He only served six of the fifteen years handed down to him by the state of Texas.

“When I get ready to do the next two specials, Domino Effect 3 and 4, they are going to take a deep dive into those six years. Because I am doing the specials in sequence. You have Domino Effect One which starts at 10 to 15 (years old), then Domino Effect Two starts at 16 to 19 (years Old). So (Domino Effect) Three is now I am locked up and I go through the first three years of that (prison sentence). And Domino Effect Four I will go through the last three years of that sentence,” Ali Siddiq explained the succession of his specials to Big Boy In The Neighbourhood.

The writer and performer of Domino Effect explained he had multiple chances to change his life during his drug dealing days. He told Big Boy he went against the advice of many people who saw his potential. With the host of the show, Big Boy sharing some of his life experiences in relation to those of Ali Siddiq the two bald creatives segued in and out of spontaneous jokes while discussing the special that dropped on YouTube a month ago.

“There are things that I am seeing, that I am like ‘yho man your moral compass is a little better than this but you are still out here (selling drugs). I had a lot of good people in my life. I coached girls' summer league while I was in the streets and won, went undefeated,” Siddiq listed a number of positive activities that could have kept him from going to jail had he turned his back on selling drugs.

Prison stories make up the bulk of the comedian’s stand-up material. When asked what inspired him to become a comedian after spending six years in a Texas jail, Ali Siddiq responded by telling Big Boy he always knew he was funny but a fellow inmate asking him what he planned to pursue once he was released sparked the idea of being a comedian and subsequently led to him intentionally entertaining other inmates.

“If someone asked me how my career (comedy career) started I would say it was in LS2, in closed custody. This is where I was the most focused because I had three rows of people who didn’t have any kind of entertainment besides me. My mission was to make people who have nothing to laugh about laugh, so the world was going to be easy. I didn’t have anything (material) outsides of my sarcasm. So I would watch Martin in the dayroom so I can do all the parts for inmates without a TV,” Ali Saddiq explained how he first learned to construct jokes.

Ali Siddiq didn’t indicate when he would release Domino Effect three and four.
