I recently cut the cord and shifted from cable (Rogers) to Chromecast + Xbox. Now comes the effort to somehow re-assemble the shows the family watches and it is a royal pain. Many of the apps that may have the content we want require authentication with your TV provider, which of course is non-existent since that was the point.

Other mobile apps that have what we want don’t have support for Chromecast. I may have to move to multiple platforms because not all apps are available on all platforms. Being in Canada makes it even harder because we don’t have apps like SlingTV, DirectTV & Playstation Vue that are attempting to solve a part of this challenge.

While this may seem like a challenge, as someone in the biz, I’m frothing at the mouth. So many opportunities for new businesses as the TV industry gets turned upside down.
