We all feel sometimes we can’t sleep, right? Whether it’s because of work stress, your upcoming big event or exam. It happens to everyone at some point of their life.

Lets see what is actually melatonin. Melatonin is a neurohormone which regulates the sleep/wake cycle of your body. The main purpose is to make your absurd sleep pattern into a normal one.

Melatonin is mostly for:

  • When you’re jet-lagged
  • Who do shift work
  • Who can’t sleep properly or have trouble sleeping

Melatonin is fairly safe, in normal dosages. But the common side effects can be headaches, nausea, dizziness, wanting to sleep in daytime.

How does melatonin work?

Melatonin is a natural hormone, as you. already know, and your brain starts producing melatonin when it becomes dark. If you can’t sleep there may be can be melatonin deficiency, for this the melatonin supplements/gummies come in handy. They act on receptors in your body to encourage sleep.

Is melatonin safe?

As I said earlier, it’s usually safe but in normal doses which are 0.5 to 5 mg. But melatonin can make your depression worse, risky for people who are taking medication to control blood pressure because it can make it higher, and increases the risk of having a seizure.

Please Note: I am NOT a doctor. So please before taking any medication or melatonin ask your trusted doctor. This is just a research.

Thank you!
