In this article, we will be having a look at an increase in demand for cyber security experts in our day-to-day life with the help of various aspects of cyber security and the need for data protection in today’s digitalized world! We will have a look at the following topics: -

Before having a look at cyber security, we will have a glance at cyber-attacks. Cyber-attacks are nothing but an attempt made by cyber-criminals to steal, alter or destroy essential data or information systems by targeting computer information systems, infrastructures, computer networks, or personal computer devices. There are various methods used by cyber-criminals to meet their desires such as: -

2) DENIAL-OF-SERVICE ATTACK

3) SOFTWARE PIRACY

5) SPOOFING.

Now cyber security is the only solution to cyber-attacks. Cyber security is the implementation of technologies, processes, and controls to protect systems, networks, programs, devices, and data from cyber-attacks. Cyber security aims to reduce the risk of cyber-attacks and protect against unauthorized access to networks and technologies.

People always get confused in terms of cyber security and information security. Cyber security is an attempt made to protect our system from unauthorized access whereas information security is a wide-ranging concept that prevents all information assets, whether in hard copy or digital form.

Most of us take cyber-attacks for granted because we think that it is nothing to worry about which is a misunderstanding. Everyone who is using the internet is automatically being targeted for cyber-attacks. This is because most commonly cyber-attacks are made to affect common weaknesses rather than targeting specific websites or organizations.

Talking more about cyber security, it is categorized into 4 types: -

1. Application Security: -

This process is mostly used at the apps-level. It should be executed before the application is deployed. It must include various security measures such as requiring strong passwords from users, two-step authentication, and some sort of security questions to avoid cybercrime.

2. Cloud security: -

Most of our essential details are stored in the cloud. We often store our essential information on Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and Apple iCloud. These platforms need to remain secure all the time to protect this data from cyber-attacks.

3. Network Security: -

Network security uses numerous tactics to block attacks from unauthorized access allowing authorized users access to secure networks.

4. IoT (Internet of Things) Security: -

This involves securing smart devices and networks connected to IoT from cyber threats.

Before clearing the idea of the job description of cyber security experts we will be having an idea of who is called cyber security specialists: -

They are nothing but an inspector in a world full of the internet. They play a very important role in preventing our systems from cyber-attacks. This role is critical because many times disobedience comes from the organization itself either intentionally or accidentally.

JOB DESCRIPTION: -

Cyber security specialists create and implement various tactics across computer hardware and software systems to protect from cyber threats. They make sure the system performs precisely and stays safe from cyber-attacks. They are responsible to ensure that systems are up-to-date and not vulnerable to software bugs. Also, they are responsible for checking whether the other co-workers are kept up-to-date to perform the best cyber security practices. That being the case we also consider them as cyber security trainees or advisors.

Cyber security specialists design firewalls and other security measures to make sure that the information systems and other computing devices meet the needs of the most recent security standards. They are responsible for continuous monitoring of the systems for anomalies and tracking those activities in systems.

TOP CYBER SECURITY JOB PROFILES IN INDIA: -

1. Network security engineer: -

They have a very critical role in today’s world. Almost every organization needs a network security engineer or specialist. Their job is to implement a security system in the network as per requirements. The average salary is in the range of 6 LPA and a maximum of up to 8 LPA in India.

2. Cyber security analyst: -

As the name indicate his job is to analyze the security system of the new network and a network system that needs to be upgraded. After a detailed analysis of the system, he then plans, identifies and upgrades the security aspects. The average salary is in the range of 6 LPA and a maximum of up to 10 LPA in India.

3. Security Architect: -

They are network designers. He investigates the existing setup and designs the network as per the requirements needed to ensure security. In collaboration with the development team, he makes sure his designs are being implemented into the system for security. This is quite a senior role in the cyber security industry. The average salary is in the range of 17 LPA.

4. Cyber security manager: -

There are many protocols set by the above three professionals. His job is to make sure that these protocols are strictly followed by the team as well as the organization itself. They are required to examine and frame other security policies as per necessity. They are allowed to keep auditing the current setup, ensuring that there are no vulnerabilities in the system.

The average salary ranges from 12 — to 24 LPA.

5. Chief Information Security Officer (CISO): -

They are a chief level executive who is the security head of any organization. The job is most critical because for any organization an IT infrastructure is always present, and his job is to look for every major and minor issue occurring in an organization at the security level and to make sure that these issues are getting solved by the security team the average salary ranges from 2–4 crores.
