Bootcamp challenges and how I have adapted in the last few weeks

During the past two weeks, I have been working on the project of the Bootcamp and participating in different activities. I met many challenges in which some well more complex and others were easy to handle. In this blog post, I am going to talk about the challenges I met in these 2 weeks and how I tried my best, with the help of my colleagues to overcome them.

At the beginning of this week, I met with my new LFA who started with introducing us to OOP(Object-Oriented Programming), and he asked us to do a short challenge of building a simple program containing at least 3 pillars of object-oriented programming. I thought I will be able to do that program because at the time, I did not have much knowledge of it but the LFA told me that I have to learn how someone informs himself/herself very fast.

He gave us 25 minutes to accomplish the task, and I immediately ran to Google to find documents that explained to me much about OOP. unfortunately, at the end of those 25 minutes that we were given, I was not able to finish all the work because I only have begun to write the starting of the program at that time.

After reviewing our work, we were given approximately two hours to accomplish what we started and present them to our LFA. I remember at that time, I did not even have lunch because I felt I had first to accomplish the task as soon as possible and be able to explain what I did. I approached some of my colleagues, whom I knew they were able to make me understand the stuff, and then the helped me by explaining well and giving me some real examples of how OOP works.

After the time we were given finished, I went to present what I did. I can not say that I nailed it in the presentation, but at least I was able to defend what I did and demonstrate how it works. According to the level I was on before meeting that challenge and after, I can say that it helped me much because it encouraged me to study OOP and even apply it to the challenge 3 that I worked on afterward.

Another challenge that I met, is the installation of the Postgress database in my system, and the reason why I felt it was also one of the complex challenges I met, is because I spent on it a lot of time and it seemed that there was no possible solution. The reason for the blocker was that I updated the Linux system that I use, and it cleaned all the passwords that I was using at the time in the system including one of the databases.

I did not have much time, that is why I took a decision of doing a reinstallation of the OS so that I can start working on the challenge in the Bootcamp. After that, the OS was new and I have been able to start using the database from there.

There are not the only challenges I met but I may say that these are the main, and they helped me much on improving some of my skills which I later needed to accomplish all the tasks I had this week. Let me also end by thanking all my colleagues who helped me in this journey, because I could not make everything alone.
