Ismaila Whittier attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, for his undergraduate education and graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in economics and obtaining minors in both business administration and French. He took part in the undergraduate exchange program with Sciences Po in Paris, France, for the Fall 2016 semester. Sciences Po is located in Paris.

Over 1,500 students are accepted each year into the Sciences Po exchange program from nearly 470 universities across the world that are partner institutions. Students participating in the exchange program can choose to study either English or French at any of the seven locations of the institution. Students are given the opportunity to participate in Sciences Po's professionally relevant and internationally oriented social science curriculum, as well as the school's dynamic student life and distinctive instructional approaches.
