Gahwa or Arabic coffee is a beverage aided when receiving guests in Saudi Arabia and in the Arabian Peninsula. Usually called the “welcome drink “, Gahwa has been a symbol of hospitality and generosity to the Arabs and almost every Arab family has Arabic coffee in their homes. Arabic Coffee is not only used to welcome guests, but for people who loves Arabic coffee, Arabic coffee is offered every day at breakfast, later breakfast, as afternoons drinks, and even in the night when family or friends are meeting.

Various ethnicities, regions, and nations have unique customs and ways of welcoming and entertaining their guests, and in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Arabic coffee plays a big role in how guests are treated. Gahwa is offering in special vessel that are distinctive and attractive. They are called Arab Dalla and are measured to be special cups. It’s also known as Finjan Gahwa, and cups of gahwa are tiny in size without any handles. Arabic Gahwa Coffee is commonly taken warm or hot and served with chocolate or dates, other sweet foods because it is somewhat bitter and has a spicy taste due to it being mixed with cardamom, cloves or saffron to color, spice and flavor it.

Coffee is a beverage that made from the coffee bean and the word itself comes from the Arabic word: قهوة qahwah which means strength, because Arabic coffee is used as a high-energy food. The word qahwah evolved into kahveh which originated from Turkish and then it again changed into koffie which is Dutch. The use of the word koffie was immediately absorbed into the Indonesian language and became the coffee known today.

The roasting process is the most important in influencing components of coffee beans through changes in the chemical and physical characteristics, which give a distinctive flavor to the coffee and its caffeine content.

Caffeine, useful for activating the nervous system and helpful in fighting the challenges of an excessive appetite, can be used for weight loss and to reduce muscle soreness.

Arabic Gahwa Coffee is therefore helpful for your health, just don’t drink too much. Just about everything that is consumed in excess can be turned into a disease. In conclusion, how do you make gahwa arabi? It is very easy: just boil water, add Arabic coffee powder, after boiling, and add cardamom, saffron, ginger, and clove powder according to your taste. Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, and it will be ready to serve.
