How to Clean an Electric Turkish coffee Maker

Use the cleaning materials commercially available for cleaning tin. Use them to clean your Turkish coffee maker. Letting your pot turn dark add character to the pot. To clean the outer side of the pot, it is best to use a sponge or non-abrasive pads.

To clean inside the coffee pot, use a sponge or smooth cloths. This is because tin is a soft material. Using rough cleaning materials will only collapse your Turkish coffee maker.

Ensure you clean carefully once you are done with the washing. Also, dry the coffee maker so that spotting doesn’t happen. Drying also prevents rusting of the pot. Cleaning the Coffee Pot before 1st Use

When you buy a Turkish coffee maker, you have to wash it in warm water before first use. Wash it by use of soap and dish detergent. Then bleach it in warm water and dry it.

  1. Dump the old coffee and any grounds in the basket. Return the basket and coffee maker to its places.
  2. Fill the liquid reservoir with half hot water and another half white vinegar. Together, these 2 will loosen and remove olive scale and other backlogs inside the coffee pot.
  3. Run the coffee pot like you would if you were making coffee. When the process is complete, drip the hot water/ vinegar back into the reservoir and run it again.
  4. Once the second cycle has finished, empty the pot and wash it in hot, soapy water to remove any brown film and stains. Wash the basket with hot soapy water, too
  5. Fill the reservoir with clean, cold water and run the pot. Repeat this cycle with fresh water twice to make sure all of the vinegar is out of the coffee maker.
  6. Remove water spots from the exterior of the machine using a lint-free cloth dipped in a 50–50 solution of white vinegar and water. Buff dry with a lint-free cloth.

Don’t ever use abrasive cloths or steel wool that can scratch your coffee pot
