So basically, old dude wants us to still do things like in the old days. Wants us to get things printed in a newspaper, wants us to be on television, wants us to talk verbally instead of through text, wants us to not allow someone with trauma to dodge certain (planned) events. Sure he understands why white men feel so repressed, but he doesn’t seem to understand -why- anyone would tell them to hush??
The majority of his stance was that he hasn’t paid much heed to society itself, and only noticed that the government is growingly corrupt due to lobbyists that don’t let down even when voter turn-out is low. Like, y’all can tell he could actually understand it were he to try —such as why most younger generations don’t watch television — but he sounds like he’s in denial that technology and society changes and is interwoven. Better than, say, when television was first common in households or when most Americans had a home phone to use.
Granted he pays heed to politics and not technology itself, so it makes sense he knows one and completely fails the others’ impact on society. Doesn’t make it less of a shame since he could actually invest time in the changing technology to solidly get his message out there in relative freetime. Many folk in social media share his views, but if he removes the impact of that, of course we’re not gonna make sure to vote even when we’re completely disenfranchised anyway.
