Gun Violence: A Special Collection of Nonprofit Research
Gun violence continues to dominate the U.S. news. In the midst of a divisive partisan debate, it’s worth asking: what do we know about gun violence, really? Here at IssueLab, we have curated a special collection of research from nonprofits, foundations, and research organizations working to understand the full impact of firearm use and gun violence in the United States:
By bringing together the work of a variety of organizations, we hope to offer a more nuanced understanding of the spectrum of issues at hand, from public health to public policy. Some reports offer analyses of current state and federal laws as well as recommendations for policy improvements, others collect data and statistics on the victims of firearms: not only from mass shootings, but also suicides, homicides, domestic violence, and accidents involving children.
We commend those who are working to produce this research, and hope that it will inform sound public policy and help to curb this ongoing public health epidemic. We encourage you to explore the collection, share it on your own websites and blogs, and learn along with us. Know of any resources that we should add? Let us know!
