Bose, a well-known name in audio technology, is stepping up its game with the latest addition to its flagship QuietComfort line. If you thought the QuietComfort 700s were impressive, get ready for the QuietComfort Ultra. It’s been four years since the 700s hit the market, which, in the world of consumer electronics, is practically an eternity. The new QuietComfort Ultra headphones come with significant improvements in sound quality, and noise-canceling capabilities, and a price tag of $430. That’s just $20 more than Sony’s top-of-the-line WH-1000XM5, making it a compelling choice, especially when compared to Apple’s $549 AirPods Max.

But the QuietComfort Ultra is not alone in this refresh. Bose is also introducing new earbuds, carrying the “Ultra” distinction, and priced at $299. These earbuds compete directly with Sony’s WF-1000XM5 and are $50 more expensive than the latest generation of AirPods Pro.

Bose has long held a dominant position in over-ear headphones, particularly with its QuietComfort line. These headphones have become a familiar sight on flights, offering unparalleled noise cancelation. While increased competition has chipped away at Bose’s market share, alternatives like the QuietComfort 45 have gained popularity. Priced at $330, they offer a compelling option that’s $100 cheaper than the Ultra.

Bose is also revisiting its classic QuietComfort 35 headphones, now simply named the Bose QuietComfort Headphones. The numbering system is gone, which might seem a bit confusing initially but aligns with the brand’s broader revamp. The new QuietComfort Headphones come with an updated design and improved tuning via CustomTune, priced at $350.

In the fiercely competitive world of earbuds, where giants like Apple and Samsung hold sway, Bose faces a unique challenge. The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are here to replace the QC Earbuds II. They promise a solid six hours of battery life on a single charge, with an optional wireless charging case available separately.

Mark your calendar for September 21, when the Quiet Comfort Headphones will hit the shelves. As for the Ultras, both the headphones and earbuds, you can expect them in October.
