Our redesign of Medium’s Claps…and why they may not have chosen to do it this way.
Jason Li

Some of us don’t want or have time to give long appreciations. I am hesitant to do so because I don’t trust the algorithms to interpret them correctly. Nor want unwelcomed suggestions. Just like generalized IQ I like articles for different reasons. Prefer to score why I liked the article. For example, learned something new, confirmed my thoughts, and or made me think differently about topic, or writer did not cofay topic correctly, writer doesn’t understand topic, and or totally disagree.

The reliance on one deminision algorithms is a flaw of many online systems.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
