In its most fundamental form, Kundalini awakening is a kind of awakening of the energies, which leads to changes of mind, emotion, and spirit. People frequently practice Kundalini meditation specifically to experience an energy release known as a kundalini awakening. This is why following and practicing spiritual disciplines such as Kundalini yoga is important prior to trying to awaken the Kundalini.

It is believed that practicing Kundalini yoga may help to activate and awaken spiritual energy in the base of your spine. Kundalini practice uses the physical body to shift our spiritual energy through the middle channel. Kundalini yoga draws the energy lying idle at the base of our spine upwards toward the crown of our heads, creating a flow of upward energy, balancing our chakras and energy bodies.

When the kundalini energy is wakened, kundalini energy rises along the spine, allowing the practitioner to experience a profound internal calmness, ultimate bliss, and spirituality; we call this Kundalini bliss. Mindfulness may occur when dormant Kundalini energy in the base of the spine begins moving upwards through the chakras, to the crown chakra, which is the place of highest consciousness. An awakening is when the dormant kundalini energy moves up from the base of the spine to the
the seventh chakra, the Sahasrara.

Spiritual emergence, or a Kundalini awakening, brings about a number of changes to the energy and consciousness, working its way up the Chakra system. What is really important to understand about this awakening process is that your subtle energetic field is what is being released and untangled, creating all of the changes. One way of framing Spiritual emergence or the awakening to Kundalini, and getting some insights, is by using the models common amongst yogis, which map out chakras (energy
swirls) and nadis (energy flows), as well as the various other points of connection and centers in your brain, which are involved in the transformational, evolutionary changes that you are experiencing.

A lot of the experiences with energy are not kundalini awakenings, but all energy is Kundalini-based, be it physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. Being able to feel Kundalini energy moving through parts of your body and experiencing high consciousness is a valuable experience on your spiritual journey.

While during Kundalini awakening, you can experience an intense vibration and heat within your body, there is a more soulful quality during a spiritual awakening, with deeper questions, insights, and transformations (some call it spiritual alchemy). Another differentiating factor is that the energy of kundalini is felt highly physically, while spiritual awakening is
generally, more oriented towards the mind and the heart.

As someone who has experienced kundalini energy moving via movement, I can say kundalini awakening does not occur exactly in the same way for everyone. A kundalini awakening may feel like a sudden rush of energy moving through your body, with or without an uncontrollable physical move such as shaking, shaking, or cramping.
