A well written article and I feel the same confusion you do. It’s not easy to see people who we’ve become accustomed being our heroes be so disappointingly stupid. To be so deeply insightful in certain things and infuriatingly blind in others.

Sadly this is the course when the subject of race, politics or religion gets in play. People stop being themselves when dealing with these subjects. Instead the squish themselves to fit into narrow stupid worldview categories like white-black, democrat-republican, etc…

When people make dumb comments like this, it is better to see them as reducing their real selves and instead playing a role. In the end, they look more like cartoon caricatures than full human. Clint did not reveal his true self in all this…all he did is show a stupid old man too convinced of a narrow worldview.
