The LSST generates about 15TB/night, which while creating a very sizeable data trove over the life of the project isn’t a particularly huge amount of data to process and store in real time.

On the other hand, the SKA telescope will generate about 3TB/second when it goes live, which is an enormous amount of data that requires a high-end supercomputing facility to handle all the data processing and storage.
