Steps to create folder in Google Docs

If you want to move your Google Doc file from its place to a newly created folder, then you can do it in just 2 minutes.

How to do it is as follows:

  • Open your Google Doc: Start by opening a new document you want to move or you want to create a folder for.
  • Locate the “Move” button: Look for a small folder icon next to your document’s title. Hover over it to reveal the “Move” label. Click it!
Select ‘Move’ icon
  • Craft your folder: A window will appear. At the bottom, select “New Folder.”
Wait to load a pop up
  • Name your folder: A default title of “Untitled Folder” will be present. Rename it to something descriptive for easy identification.
  • Confirm and move: Click the blue tick icon next to the title field, followed by “Move Here” to finalize the process.

Access Your Folders

How can you access your newly created folder? The smooth connection between Google Docs and Drive is what makes it so beautiful. Say goodbye to back-and-forth switching!

  • Open the File Picker: From the Google Docs homepage, locate the “Open file picker” option next to the Grid View and Sort Options menus. Click it.
  • Navigate your folders: Google Docs will display all folders within your Drive. Double-click your desired folder, or select it once and choose “Open” at the bottom.

You will become an expert in Google Docs organization quickly with your newly acquired abilities in creating folders and finding storage options!
