We all grown up listening to this quote or suggestion “Think before you speak”. From your parents, teachers, sometimes from your siblings too if you are younger one. I know most of you never questioned them what to think before speaking?

Have you ever uttered something and you instantly regretted?

Words, once spoken, can’t be taken back.

No worries, I have figured it out. Organised as the abbreviation so that it become easy to remember and follow for next time. Because the power of communication doesn’t just in what you have said, but also in when, where and how you said it.

Let’s jump in —

True: Check if the information you are about to say is accurate? There is no point spreading wrong information as it may damage your credibility and create unnecessary conflicts. Double check your facts especially when emotions are on stake.

Helpful: Words have the power that they can build someone up from zero or break down from the throne. So consider the information you are going to share will build them up or tear them down? Use your words to offer solutions, encouragements and constructive criticism.

Inspiring: Everyone has have lived too many stories in their lives and when it comes to share some story. Consider it’s inspirational values? is your story or words going to motivate someone? If your answer is no better not to share the story in the group. Share positive stories, offer the words of encouragements and always focus on solutions [not in case of listening to your girl’s problem, she just want to share not to listen the solutions 😉]

Be the voice that makes others feel good about themselves and the situation.

Necessary: Before speaking always check, if your comment actually needed? Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. Avoid interjecting with irrelevant opinions into any conversation, it will create your solid image among others. Focus on adding values to the conversation and always avoid gossips.

Kind: Kindness is above everything, make sure to be kins in any situation and offer respect to everyone with your words too. Choose your words carefully that they sound not attacking to someone. Avoid negativity and sarcasm, not everyone can digest that. Even when delivering difficult feedback, your kindness can pave the way for a more productive conversation.

Taking a moment to THINK before you speak can make a world of difference. It allows you to gather your thoughts, choose your words wisely and ensure your communication is effective and respectful. Let me tell you surprising fun fact, you cannot think while you speak and vice versa. Did you know this? This mindful approach will enhance your relationships, boost your confidence and make you more positive and impactful communicator.

So what are you waiting for use these tips in your next discussion along with active listening.
