If It Was Easy, It Wouldn’t Be Called A Journey

Today I thought I’d get a little personal and tell you about an experience of my own.

For the longest time, like most people, I was under the illusion that if I put out something to the world, people would automatically read it, watch it, like it and I’d have millions of views, comments and followers. And like most people, over time that belief began to turn into frustration as no one was reading what I was writing or commenting and watching what I was producing. The ideas that I thought were great and inspiring, people didn’t want to consume them. I thought to myself; I’m putting in the time why isn’t it working.

For months I questioned, “why, why, why, why!” Until I reached out to a successful business owner, who gave me a rude wake-up call. He said, “Chris, no one cares about what you’re saying because you haven’t done anything to make them care.”

It felt like Mike Tyson just punched me in the gut! I had no idea what to say, so I said nothing at all. I politely thanked him for his time and went to sleep lol…and slept I did.

While what he said hurt, I realized he was absolutely right! It took me some time to get the concept and then think of ways to get my message out there.

So now I’m going to be real with you, it’s was a journey to get there. In fact, it took me six years to get to where I am now. It’s a journey because you are going from point A to point B and along the way you grow, you fail, you pick yourself back up and keep moving.

If you think going after your dreams is easy, think again, easy street does not exist, except maybe in New Orleans, because it’s known as the Big Easy…you’ll get it later.

So going into things, knowing that chasing your dreams is a journey, why do some people still complain that, “It’s too hard,” “The cards are stacked against me,” “I don’t know anyone, I don’t have any money.”

Here’s the truth, you have two options, go back to the same cut and paste life you’ve been living or dig down deep and do the best you can to enjoy your journey. Take each moment in stride and learn to seize the day.

Let me ask you something, if you had a million dollars in your bank account right now, what would you do with it? For the majority of people, I bet that your answer would not be to start that groundbreaking idea that you have, or record an award winning album, or create that world class masterpiece painting you visualized in your mind.

If you don’t believe me, take a look at the statistics on people who won millions by winning the lottery and are now bankrupt! So let’s put the crap to the side and get rid of the excuse of having a lack of money or resources to start something.

I’ll be frank with you, if you can’t figure out how to achieve the things you want without resources, what do you think will change once you have the resources? A man who doesn’t know how to fish can’t constantly catch fish without that skill set.

People gravitate to results and you don’t need a degree from a fancy college to do that.

You can whine and complain that life is unfair, the government is trying to keep me down, the system is set up against me, blah blah blah!
That is a losers mentality and you will continue to feed into your losers mentality unless you begin to shift your mindset.

The beauty of the times we live in is this, if you want to make a change in your life, you can go online and find anything you need to learn to make it happen.

There are also hundreds of thousands of people online who have already gone through the same process as you who have documented their works, which speak about their failures and what it takes to be successful in various fields and niches.

If you want to learn how to record an album, begin researching the process and then start with what you have and do it!

If you want to start a business, go out in your neighborhood and talk to any of the small business owners that are around you. Join online business forums where people break business concepts down.

If you want high-speed internet, the ability to take your favorite shows on the go and $500, then sign up for a Verizon plan!

I won’t sit here and lie to you, not everyone is going to make it, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t. Crying about how unfair things are won’t won’t change a thing, so why not try something new.

The journey will be hard, but by changing your mindset, creating daily habits, believing in yourself and just saying, “Screw you world, I write my destiny,” I promise you that your life will change compared to where you were yesterday. It’s up to you to make it happen.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
