Working with an Artist

Inside the mind

I am a marketing major. To gain experience, I have been taking on all opportunities that present themeselves to me. Currently, I am working with an up and coming print maker to develop her portfolio. From the first time I sat down with her to now (a few days later), it has been quite an interesting journey picking her brain. From learning how she thinks to seeing her artwork, I can tell that she will one day receive the recognition she so deserves.

Working with a visual artist is much different than what I am used to (musical artists and “normal people”). For starters she wants to be fully involved and has strong opinions on every aspect of the creative process. She considers everything from the layout to the font to the word placement. She is definitely one of my favorite people to work with so far not only because she is so involved, but because I am learning to work with someone who cares about all aspects of their image.

“No Regrets” by Kirstin Elizabeth

I will continue to document this journey as I delve deeper into her mind to help bring her art to light. For now I’ll leave you all with her own words about her art: “ LFDY: I want to be able to look back on my life and say I have no regrets.”
