How was my lunch at MTR ?

In one word — Heavilicious!

If you are a foodie and if you live, sleep, think about namma Bengaluru (Bangalore) then MTR in short for Mavalli Tiffin Room is a mouth-watering brand .

It took almost 30 years, 64 days to gulp an opportunity to enjoy the famous meals in MTR. The day had finally arrived and other details for the record are as follows.

  • Date: 10th August 2014
  • Day: Sunday , 14:00 HRS IST
  • Number of persons: 3 ( Spouse and myself (soul and body separately))
  • Location: MTR (St Marks Road, Bangalore)

Yes, MTR has an outlet in St Marks road and im not kidding about it! Anyway this location was agreed as waiting for lunch in MTR headquarters at Lalbagh road is a test of patience to my tastebuds and all organs involved in my digestion system. Every meal has well crafted phases, in the same way, every experience to a great meal too has similar phases.

Appetizer:

When a moment is about to happen, the universe brings everything in one plate and serves it delicious. The day was bright and Sun had sneaked out of clouds after a tiny drizzle , the ride was pleasant with cool breeze whispering in my ears “ Ride fast dude, the gastronomy is about to explode”. I have been on St Marks road several times and haven’t noticed MTR outlet , never seen long queues which is a common sight . For a quick second, did feel that MTR in St Marks Road was an illusion or a weird inception by an unknown identity.

Thanks to local, ever dependable GPS man — The auto Guru!, he assured and infact guided me to the path of culinary salvation. It was a heavy sigh of relief indeed after watching the outlet right next to “ The Egg Factory”.

Starter:

The first impression after entering this outlet no way reminds me of the traditional, culturally rich history that it is famous for. The ambience is swanky, modern with dim lit , well dressed crew, to sum it up in two sentences — A cool hangout for foodies! and A lounge bar of filter coffee!

As a typical middle class couple brought up with high money consciousness, quickly checked the price for meals, well it is 210/-(Rupees Two Hundred and Ten (struggling to type “only” in the end as it is expensive), The answer to second question from the cashier did bring cheer to our senses when he confirmed that meals was “ Unlimited

We both had prepared for this meal-a-thon as it was decided to visit MTR after performing ritual to the Lord of Seven Hills (Govinda!) .The stage was set, hunger was already in place, no words were spoken, the mind, body and soul were ready , Its time for action!

Main Course:

I did not speak a single word, did not talk about current affairs in our personal, professional and social life. The focus was simply on E.R (Enjoy and Relish) every item served on my plate. This was the “Action speaks louder than words” moment of that day.

On that day, every tiny space in my stomach was defragmented and organized to ensure the joy of eating every delicacy continues on as far as possible.

Pudding:

I was struggling in the end literally to get up and walk out of the outlet, my stomach still pinches when I relish that experience while typing it.It was a gastronomical experience!.

We were proud to be part of this meal-a-thon. Now, its time for your’s!
