In this era of the rising wellness sector, physical fitness is the hottest topic among others.

You probably have seen a lot of transformation reels on Instagram (at least I watch them a lot), people making healthy meals for themselves, and videos of people flexing their muscles or showing their routines, etc.

But as far as we’re concerned about our physical health, we also need to understand the concept of what we consume daily that feeds our brain is the type of fuel we are giving our brain to feed on.

If you want to grow in your life, become a better person, you know that whatever you are consuming in your daily life affects your brain.

Mental diet is as important as physical diet, and I want to share what I have learned about it and how to take good care of what you feed your brain.

Let’s prepare some mental food for nourishing our brain with positivity and greatness, shall we?

Decide what can influence you

  • your mindset directly affects what you let your brain be influenced by, so shift your mindset to become the person you want to be and hold the power to control what can affect you on what level.

Stop watching the news

  • Yes, I’ve said it. You want to believe it or not, but today’s media is not doing any justice with the kind of information they are giving us. Mostly it’s about war, people getting killed by mass shootings, natural disasters, and many more.
  • I am not saying that there are not any positive news out there, but they don’t even catch the eye of people. News nowadays is not trustworthy.

Think before meeting with people

  • What does that mean? It simply means you are the product of your environment, especially the kind of people you surround yourself with. Are they supportive? Do they talk about things that matter? What do they talk about most of the time?

You literally become the people you choose to spend your time with.

Social media

  • I know you were waiting for that one… what you constantly watch while you are on social media tells a lot about what kind of content you are feeding your brain.
  • So make sure the people you follow have something valuable to share. Try to assess yourself after watching something on social media — does it make you feel positive or does it affect you in a bad way?

Watching TV/Reality shows

  • I don’t remember the last time I watched something on TV. The kind of reality shows on TV nowadays are like junk food for your mental diet. It doesn’t add any quality to your lifestyle. It really influences you without you even noticing it.

I am going to leave with one quote that I find so relatable by the author Brian Tracy -

Your mental diet largely determines your character and your personality and almost everything that happens to you in life. When you feed your mind with positive affirmations, information, books, conversations, audio programs, and thoughts, you develop a more positive attitude and personality. You become more influential and persuasive. You enjoy greater confidence and self-esteem.
