You don’t know me, but my name is Matt Provo. I run a fantastic little venture-backed company — *gram Labs.
mai Social: AVATAR LED SOCIAL NETWORK.
TODAY we are launching our first product — mai Social — on the iOS app store. Through cutting-edge design, animation, and data science driven technologies, mai Social gives each of us the tools to create avatars of ourselves or our friends that are more personal than emoji and more alive than Bitmoji.
mai Social is your personal avatar’s social network, where you (and your avatar) can fully express yourself. Customize your avatar’s voice, style and animations in real-time, then share it in the mai Social feed or wherever else you chat.
Once a user creates their avatar, personalization doesn’t stop there. When creating a post, users can position, place, and resize their avatar on top of a photo, video, gif, or one of the illustrated backgrounds from the mai Social library. With real-time rendering and animation protocol embedded in the app, users can choose from over 120 different animated actions and poses for their avatar and can insert audio from voice input or popular sound bites, which is lip-synced on the device in real-time.

Where is all of this headed? People exist on multiple platforms; thanks to our phones we humans are always online. Every day the lines between the lives we live online and off continue to fade — soon our digital personas will be able to represent us accurately in both worlds.
The YOU that people follow online should be the same as the one they love interacting with in the real world. We need to be creating tools that empower all of us to be authentically realistic to who we are — no matter who we are. We think mai Social will play a role in that.
