More or Less?

Less is More

We live in a world that is driven by consumerism where there is a constant message that is thrown at us for having more, consuming more, buying more, and achieving more. Be it motivation, health, nutrition, fresh water, entertainment, knowledge, peace, money, fame, travel, attention, and the list goes on — we need them more.

This race of achieving more, accumulating more, in some cases, it seems it has reached a level of “hoarding” more — has created a lot of chaos in our minds to an extent that most of us are living in a FOMO (fear of missing out).

You say, “ I like eating.” Precisely for the same reason, eat less. You will live long enough to eat.

You say, “I like sleeping.” Precisely for the same reason, sleep less. You will live long enough to sleep.

You say, “I love keeping myself updated with social media.” Precisely for the same reason, consume it less. Your brain will remain healthy enough for a long time to enjoy it and do more productive work.

You say, “I want to save more money.” Precisely for the same reason, be watchful of your expenses (spend less) and invest. You will be able to keep and grow your money.

You say, “I love her a lot.” Precisely for the same reason, give her space. Then the relationship will survive the test of time.

You say, “I want to succeed and reach the top.” Precisely for the same reason, spend enough time at the bottom to build the base. Then this base will sustain you at the top.

Less will make it long. More will make it short.

The words — Less and More need to be understood in the context of what is sufficient and necessary, and what is not necessary.
