Today I was wondering how can I cast Youtube videos on my windows PC that I got connected to my TV via HDMI without using a wireless mouse and keyboard so I started searching and this is the solution that I found.

Youtube on TV

Basically, you access the Youtube app that all smart TVs have direct from you're browser by going to this link and pair it to your smartphone.

Youtube on TV

Now all I need to do is open on fullscreen so I do not see the address bar and the rest of UI, you can do it manually by pressing F11 on your keyboard but, I don’t want to do this every time I open it.

How to make Chrome open Youtube on TV in fullscreen mode

  1. Open up Chrome’s settings.
  2. Under “Users” click “Add new user.”
  3. Give the new profile Name Youtube. Make sure “Create a desktop shortcut for this user” is checked. Click “Create.”
  4. Right-click the newly-created shortcut and select “Properties.”
  5. In the “Target” field, add --kiosk --kiosk-printing "https://youtube.com/tv" to the end.

6. Click “Apply.”

The above instruction works but only after you shutdown every single other Chrome that is up and running. The next restart would run in the fullscreen mode. you MUST force chrome to NOT run in the background, otherwise the full screen never kicks in.

To do that you need to type chrome://restart in the address bar and press enter.

Pair it to your smartphone and laptop

You can use your phone, tablet, or computer to control the YouTube experience on TV by linking your device to your TV with a TV code.

Here is how:

Make it launch when you power on the PC (Optionally)

I personally want to just turn on the TV and PC and grab my phone and get comfortable on the couch, without having to grab the mouse.

  • Copy this address:%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
  • Press Win+E to open Windows 10 Explorer.
  • Paste it into the address bar:
  • Hit Enter:
  • Copy the Youtube shortcut that we created earlier.

That’s it now you can be a couch potato, I hope it was helpful and thank you for reading.
